Grace & Paul – A Gorgeous Summertime Barn Wedding
I am so excited to share this wedding with you all today. Grace and Paul’s wedding was up there with one of my all time favorite. Not because it was big and fancy and had tons of details. It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL in its simplicity. Grace and Paul wanted their day to be about their friends and family, and each other. It truly shined throughout the whole day, just how big their love for others is. It was one of my first outside weddings in quite a while and I just loved it.
Grace and Paul got married on Grace’s family’s property. A beautiful countryside surrounded by cornfields. They decided to fix up the old barn, THEMSELVES to hold their wedding in. Grace and Paul spent weekends, with their own hands, during school, to make the barn safe and beautiful for their guests. I learned later that night that the barn was over 100 years old. How amazing for them to add another beautiful memory to the place! It was gorgeous once completed. My favorite was the patio with all the string lights and flowers. So darling!
They day started off beautiful. It was a gorgeous summer day with blue skies and fluffy clouds. We started off with Paul and Grace’s first look. They really got to spend the whole day together. One of my favorite moments during their first look was when we stepped back for a few minutes to just let them be with each other. Paul and Grace took this time to pray together. It was such a sweet and meaningful way to start their day, and their marriage together.
After the first look we had plenty of time to do all the portraits we needed. Paul and Grace are blessed with big, loving families. It was obvious there was so much joy and love. Paul and grace had all their siblings on their sides. Pauls parents couldn’t make it home from out of the country due to covid, but he was surrounded by so many siblings and other families to fill in that love. We even got a few photos of the couple holding an IPAD while FaceTiming Pauls parents for a portrait! I can honestly say I am not sure I have felt more love within families than I did at this wedding.
Next was the ceremony. Shaded by trees Grace and Paul got married under a floral filled arch while their guests came in sipping lemonade. It was beautiful, and so very hot. lol.
After the ceremony we took a few more photos and then headed into the reception. The sun was starting to set and people were ready to have fun! The amount of fun events this wedding held will always be a favorite of mine. Starting with a toast and prayer from Pauls parents. They had pre-recorded them and shown on a projector for everyone to see. Then the toasts from the siblings. Every single sibling spoke. It was truly amazing. Pauls siblings acted out a whole entire scene for their toasts. Paul and Grace are both lawyers and they acted out a courtroom drama to prove that Paul was ready to be a husband. It truly was the FUNNIEST and more heartwarming toast I had ever seen.
After the toasts and cake cutting we headed into the dancing. I could already tell that this was going to be so much fun. Grace and Paul danced with each other for the first time. The Grace and her father twirled around on the floor. Since Pauls Mom wasn’t able to be there, Paul and his siblings all choreographed a whole swing number. He dances with each sibling and but he end of the song they had everyone at the wedding up and moving! Once everyone was on the floor Grace’s family tradition started. Square dancing! They had a fiddler and Graces dad called out. So many people were not he dance floor giggling and twirling. It was so fun to watch!
The rest of the night was just as fun, with friends dancing, laughing and just loving on each other.
